Litigation Can’t Stop Handover process – Mustapha

Mr Boss Mustapha, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), has announced that the handover process to the newly elected government is in progress. Mustapha, the Chairman of the Presidential Transition Council, provided the update during a news conference on Tuesday.

The Federal Government inaugurated a 22-man Presidential Transition Council on February 14. According to Mustapha, the transition process is ongoing and will ensure a peaceful power transfer to the new president-elect.

Mustapha emphasized the importance of keeping Nigerians informed of developments and building inclusiveness to lay a solid bedrock for a peaceful transition of power in the country. The Presidential Transition Council comprises 24 members, including two persons from the President-Elect’s team.

After declaring His Excellency Asiwaju-Bola Tinubu as the President-Elect, the PTC requested he nominates his representatives on the council. The President-elect appointed His Excellency Atiku Bagudu, the Governor of Kebbi State and Chief Olawale Edun, who had actively joined the process.

In response to questions on possible interference due to ongoing court proceedings, Mustapha assured that litigation would not stop the transition process.

“The court processes will continue, and we are doing everything to ensure that the transition process is not truncated. The Federal Government has issued a statement to that effect,” SGF said
