UK Government Set to Ban Immigrants from Nigeria

The UK government is about to limit Nigerian students and other nations from travelling to the UK with their families.

According to a report by The Sun UK, this restriction, which will be announced soon, will stop foreign students from bringing family members over.

However, this ban will not affect the PhD students whose program runs between 3-5 years; and who are highly skilled.

The report has it that too many students were coming into the UK hence the ban. Nigerians have the largest growth in the number of independent immigrants.

“There’s been an explosion in the number of people coming to Britain piggybacking on their relative’s student visas. “
“Students brought 135,788 family members to Britain last year _ nine times more than in 2019.”
“Last year, 59,053 Nigerian students brought over 60,923 relatives.”
“We have to get a grip,” a member of the UK parliament said.

This measure is to get hold of the climbing numbers of immigrants after massive illegal entries.

The UK ministers are expected to announce the clampdown strategy next week.
