Cristiano Ronaldo receives a certificate from Guinness World Record (GWR) for becoming the first male player in history to reach 200 international appearances.
The football star, Cristiano Ronaldo, has been awarded a Guinness World Record for the most international caps by a male player, with a total of 200 for Portugal in Tuesday’s Euro 2024 qualifier against Iceland.
He did it between August 2003 and June 2023.
The closest to Rolnaldo’s tally is Bader AI-Mitawa, who capped for Kuwait on 196 occasions.
The AI Nassr FC star said he has no intention of retiring from international football any time soon. He reaffirmed his commitment to making more impacts on the international stage.
In preparation for the game against Iceland, Rolnaldo said, “Two hundred games played proves the love I have for my country.”
“For me it’s an extremely important milestone. It means a lot. (Two hundred is a beautiful number that no men’s player) has.
“I’m very proud because this is something I never thought I could reach. And I’m continuing to set records”.
He is also Portugal’s all-time scorer with the total of 123 goals.
Ronaldo has the most Guinness World records in the history of football.
