Presidential Election Petition Court bans phones, gadgets from May 22. A notice was placed at the entrance to the Presidential Election Petition Court room. The arriving lawyers discovered the notice this morning as theyrs arrived the venue at about 9.00 am to prepare today’s hearing.
The notice reads:
Phones and gadgets are not allowed in the courtroom. Thank you as you comply. signed: P.E.P.C. 2023.
However, Newsedup Reporter gathered that the court officials requested that journalists, lawyers (including Senior Advocates), to drop their phones and other electronic gadgets before entering into the court room.
Secretary to the Presidential Election Petition Court, Josephine Ekperobe told all the lawyers and journalists waiting to access the courtroom to comply with the instructions. The door to the courtroom was opened few minutes to 10 am to allow people in.
Lastly, the Court’s secretary later apologized, saying it was “a directive from above” which will take effect from Monday 22nd May, 2023.
